• Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) update

    ECMO is a life-saving tool that delivers oxygen to blood outside of the body for patients with severe respiratory and/or cardiac failure. It requires highly specialised care, including blood component support. This session explores the underlying processes and clinical issues associated with ECMO.

    Learning outcomes:

    • Improve knowledge of ECMO and its appropriate clinical use.
    • Improve understanding of issues for paediatric patients undergoing ECMO.
