Dengue fever update

Dengue fever is a viral disease spread by mosquitoes. It is a problem in many tropical and subtropical regions, including Africa, Asia, South America and northern Australia, with climate change predicted to increase the spread of Dengue. It is transmissible by transfusion. This session provides an overview of Dengue, its transmission, management, and the effect on blood transfusion safety.
Learning outcomes:
- Improve understanding of Dengue fever.
- Explore possible effects of climate change on mosquito populations and impact on the transmission of mosquito-borne diseases.
- Explore the mechanisms for controlling mosquito populations.
