    • Transfusion as part of disaster response management

      Australian Medical Assistance Teams (AUSMAT) are experienced multi-disciplinary health teams that can rapidly respond to a disaster zone to provide life saving treatment to casualties. They are designed to be self-sufficient and support the local health response. This session provides insight into providing a blood transfusion service as part of disaster response management and the role of blood transfusion in emergency support in challenging situations.

      Learning outcomes:

      • Outline some of the issues for a blood transfusion service as part of disaster response management.
      • Outline the role of blood transfusion in emergency medical management for patients care in limited support environments.
