ADELAIDE IRON SYMPOSIUM: FROM PRIMARY TO TERTIARY CARE
The Adelaide Iron Symposium will be held on 3 June 2017 to build on participants' knowledge of transfusion practice and blood management. The symposium was developed through a partnership between the Women's and Children's Hospital and the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.
Learning outcomes: Participants will be provided with tools to assist them with
- identifying patients with iron deficiency and anaemia and determining underlying pathology
- interpreting laboratory investigations to diagnose iron deficiency and anaemia
- applying the principles of prescribing and administering iron therapy in practice with a focus on patient blood management
- incorporating the use of practical tools such as algorithms for anaemia and patient handouts to guide treatment for iron deficiency and anaemia
The Blood Service would like to thank SA Health for its ongoing support and exclusive sponsorship of the Adelaide Iron Symposium.
