Dr Helen Faddy

Dr Helen Faddy

Dr Helen Faddy is currently a Senior Research Fellow in Research and Development at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service. Helen has also been appointed an Adjunct Research Fellow in the Faculty of Health at the Queensland University of Technology and an Adjunct Lecturer in the School of Medicine, the University of Queensland. Helen received her PhD from the University of Queensland in 2008, and has been working at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service since this time.  Helen's research interests and activities focus on providing an evidence base to enable the evaluation of current emerging infectious risks to the safety of the Australian blood supply. Dr Faddy is a member of the International Society for Blood Transfusion Working Party on Transfusion Transmitted Infectious Diseases, and has been a temporary advisor to the World Health Organisation in relation to the control of Chagas disease in non-endemic countries.  Helen was selected to take part in the 2014 Theo Murphy High Flyers Think Tank on Climate change challenges to health, hosted by the Australian Academy of Science. Helen has received multiple international and national prizes and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles.
